Star Wars 7: 10 Biggest Things Revealed From The Set Leaks
3. Rey Visits A Wrecked AT-AT
According to published interviews, Daisy Ridley's character is named Rey. Fans know her character as the one riding the speeder across the desolate wastes of what seemed to be Tatooine in the trailer. Showing just how inaccurate many rumours are, before the latest round of interviews Ridley's character was supposedly called Kira. Assuming that detail was the only one bungled by the rumour mill and the leaksters, there are many surprising aspects to Rey: she seems to be Han and Leia's daughter and she wields a lightsaber (as seen in concept art). With Rey's heritage, is she known as a princess of Alderaan? But what is strangest of all is that she is shown in concept art visiting a wrecked AT-AT on Tatooine! Examining the concept art closely reveals that a starship is parked in the belly of a downed AT-AT. Does this ship provide Rey with her means of escaping Tatooine? In the trailer, viewers also saw the Falcon flying across Tatooine and being strafed by TIE fighters, raising the possibility that Han is trying to rescue his daughter from Imperial entanglements. It remains unclear whether the Falcon reaches Rey. So far, it is unclear why Rey doesn't live with her parents or appear to be involved with the rebels. Tatooine, however, has a history of being a planet where people go to hide; perhaps she has been placed there to keep her safe. If so, Tatooine may not be the safe haven it once was. This same piece of art also suggests that Tatooine has seen heavy fighting, with crashed TIE fighters complementing the decor of decaying walkers. Unfortunately, any such stratagem of hiding Rey appears to be doomed to failure: Rey looks to be in for a tough time in Episode VII as other concept art shows her in the grip of an inquisitor or an equally unpleasant foe. On a related note, the droid seen rolling across Tatooine in the trailer, BB-8, could very well be owned by Rey.
