Star Wars: 7 Ways Episodes 8 And 9 Could Actually Improve The Prequels

2. Revisit Some Of The Prequels' Locations

Unrestricted by the budgetary limitations of the original trilogy, the prequels revelled in the world-building process, showing off vast landscapes, entire cities, incredible backdrops and the myriad alien races that inhabit them.

George Lucas put a lot of work in bringing worlds like Coruscant, Naboo and Kashyyyk to life, presenting them from every angle, rather than simply hitting the audience with desert scenery and telling them the rest of the planet looks like this.

If Episode VIII or IX was to revisit one of these locations, it would make the prequel trilogy's universe building more meaningful, something that's stood the test of time and is valued enough to influence the saga a generation later.

Obviously, the movies shouldn't return to these old stomping grounds purely for the sake of making the prequels more relevant, but there are meaningful ways this could be weaved into the story. For instance, Chewie's endgame could see him return home to Kashyyyk.

There's no evidence from The Last Jedi trailers to suggests the worlds introduced in the prequels will feature, but perhaps Episode IX will have a scene or two set on them. If the conflict against the First Order escalates, resistance uprisings on Coruscant or Naboo might be a possibility.
