Star Wars 9 Title: What Does 'The Rise Of Skywalker' Really Mean?

1. There Could Be A Secret New Skywalker Character

And finally, there's one other possibility, and one that certainly wouldn't be beyond J.J. Abrams given his love of mystery and keeping the audience guessing.

What if there's yet another Skywalker character waiting in the wings to be revealed - perhaps a secret son of Luke, who has been mentored by a Force ghost of Palpatine?

After all, Matt Smith's much-discussed role in the film still hasn't been named, and given that it's tough to imagine him as an out-and-out good guy, the poisoned son of Luke would actually make a certain amount of sense.

Granted, pulling new characters out of the woodwork this late in the game will rub some fans the wrong way, so it's far more probable that, as rumoured, Smith is probably playing a key member of the Knights of Ren.

But still, you never know, and this "early" in the game, anything's still possible.

What do you make of Star Wars: Episode IX's title? Any ideas for what it tells us about the film? Shout them out in the comments!
