Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Dream Casting Choices

10. Hugo Weaving

Hugo Weaving is, of course, a fantastic actor, and has perhaps best proven himself in the litany of theatrical, usually villainous roles he has performed in Hollywood. His Agent Smith from The Matrix, of course, proves the most memorable and iconic, a tireless, dogged antagonist who manages to appear physically imposing in spite of Weaving's relatively regular frame; it is a testament to the man's intensity that he is an intimidating figure nevertheless. Observing his chameleonic work in Cloud Atlas, it's also clear that he is comfortable wearing make-up - for the film has him dressed as not only a goblin-like creature, but also a woman - which might make him a fine fit for an alien enemy, or a Palpatine/Sidious-esque administrator. What's clear is that with his silky, stern voice and piercing eyes, Weaving would fit into the pantheon of classic Star Wars villains with ease, and as a result he should be right at the top of Lucas' and co's list.
