Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Expanded Universe Stories That Should Be Used For Inspiration

2. The New Jedi Order

I€™ll never forget when I finished reading the first book in this series. I had been reading a lot of Star Wars EU for a long time and had become complacent that these heroes would always make it out alive. For the first time with these books I had a sense that no one was safe the further I got into the series. Star Wars had taken a visceral turn with the New Jedi Order series€and I loved it. The introduction of the Yuuzhan Vong was amazing. Never before I had read anything like this in the Star Wars universe. The Yuuzhan Vong€™s purpose was to basically destroy anything that involved or used technology and enslave the rest. Although I was a little bummed with the how the series concluded, I loved the ride. Much like the Legacy Era that takes place after the New Jedi Order, this series had brought everyone together for the biggest show down the galaxy had ever seen. As mentioned, no one was safe. The characters that we had grown to love from the films and the encompassing EU material were all on the chopping block. It made for an unbelievable journey. The events of the New Jedi Order take place roughly 30-years after Return of the Jedi. The scale would have to be huge for anything involved in this set of events and would have to span more than three films. The only way I could these stories making big screen adaptations would be years from now after the franchise had been reestablished with a huge ensemble of characters spanning from a multitude of movies. It would be great though to see Jedi Knights hunted by the Force void Yuuzhan Vong and the battles that would ensue. Think Lord of the Rings epic battles on steroids and you scratch the surface€maybe€ Likelihood of being a film: 4
