3. Michael Fassbender
Geek Credentials: Believe it or not, one of Michael Fassbender's first big breaks was starring in the cult British supernatural show Hex (I know, right? Blew my mind...), ahead of appearing in Zack Snyder's 300, and the dreadful comic book adaptation Jonah Hex. He gave superb performances in X-Men: First Class as Magneto and in Prometheus as the chaotic android David, while we wait on tenterhooks to see him in X-Men: Days of Future Past and also a Prometheus sequel sometime down the line. Oh, and he's also signed on to star in and produce an Assassin's Creed movie.
Who He Should Play: Though far too old to play the protagonist of the piece, he could serve a purpose much like Sean Bean, perhaps playing the Obi-Wan to Bean's Qui-Gon, acting as a Jedi master to help guide the Padawan. Still, much like Andrew Garfield, he has a hugely congested slate of films for the foreseeable future, and short of pushing Assassin's Creed back - unlikely given that he's producing it - it's doubtful that this one will work out, sadly.
