Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Reasons Why It Will Suck

1. Franchise Dilution

When I was younger, I was mesmerised by the characters in Star Wars. Han Solo was always my favourite, then Luke, then Leia and finally the two loveable droids R2 and 3PO. Even Darth Vader, as the primary antagonist, was and still is one of the greatest movie villains I've ever had the good fortune to meet. They were, as far as I can tell, near perfect characters and for years were preserved as such. Then came the dreaded new trilogy, which completely shattered the illusion of perfection, all but ruined C3PO and R2D2 and worse, Darth Vader, by making them do and say completely baffling things. Thank christ Solo and Skywalker didn't feature. Oh, but wait, I've heard rumours (and let's hope they stay as such) that both Luke Skywalker and Han Solo may feature in some way in Star Wars Episode 7. I don't know about you, but this idea scares me. I could deal with Episodes I - III's treatment of the iconic droids; I even eventually came to terms with the bastardization of Darth Vader. But if Luke and Solo are ruined by another set of clumsy movies, there'll literally be nothing left in the Star Wars franchise for me to hold on to. Whether characters from the originals return for Episode 7 or not, it'll still represent further dilution of the franchise - which once tasted so rich and intoxicating but now tastes thin and watery, like cordial in too much water. And in all honesty, it's dilution that I, and thousands others, could completely do without. So, there are my ten reasons I believe the new Star Wars movie will suck. Do you agree? Want to tear me a new one for my blasphemy? Do let us know.
