Star Wars Episode 7: Carrie Fisher To Reprise Role Of Princess Leia

Princess-leia Since the announcement in late October, there has been a lot of speculation around the new Star Wars sequels being produced by Disney. Very few questions have yet been answered, though we were eventually told who to ask when a press release named J.J. Abrams as director. He will oversee the project being written by Michael Arndt, produced by Abrams, Bryan Burk and Kathleen Kennedy, and with Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg as consultants. Notably, Kasdan was a screenwriter for both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, of the original Star Wars trilogy. But what everybody really wants to know is, who is returning? Will any of the characters we know make an appearance? And will the actors return to reprise their roles? We may be starting to get some answers. Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford have each been tipped to return, but they have remained tight-lipped. However, in a recent interview given by Carrie Fisher, when asked if she would return in Disney's sequels, the actress gave a concise, "yes". Fisher further joked that Leia by now, would be living "in an intergalactic old folk's home," and that, Solo and Leia having been at one another's throats since being married, the character "probably had an affair with some general." All of this has prompted Fisher's representative to insist that the actress was joking and that "nothing has been announced." Still, we're very hopeful for the reunion of Star Wars' leading cast and it would be a huge trick for Disney to miss. While nothing can be said for certain, I personally would take the rep's denial with a pinch of salt. It may be unannounced, but it seems probable that Fisher, Harrison and Hamill will all return.
