Star Wars Episode 7 - Who Should Direct?

4. Joseph Kosinski

Why it could be him: He's already a member of the Disney family, having made his directorial debut on the gorgeous, if not entirely widely-loved, TRON: Legacy. Whether or not you liked that film (I did), you can't deny that it's an impressive debut film, and he showed a prescient mastery of visual effects. Plus, there wouldn't be any de-aging of Jeff Bridges in the new Star Wars (at least I hope not). With his next project, Oblivion, Kosinski continues in the sci-fi genre. Drawing from his own original idea, the film should raise his profile that much more and hopefully surprise the hell out of everyone. Why it won't be him: TRON: Legacy barely made it's money back worldwide, and some might hold that against him. Also, if Oblivion proves to be too heady or just a plain ol' flop (not betting on that to happen), then Disney might be a little apprehensive about handing him the keys to the Millennium Falcon.
