Star Wars Episode IX: 10 Directors Who Could Replace Colin Trevorrow

Why He Should Direct: Ron Howard is pretty much the textbook definition of a safe, reliable veteran director who will ensure a movie comes in on schedule and under budget, which is likely why he ended up landing the job of taking over Han Solo.

Howard may not be the most inspired or creatively vibrant of filmmakers, but he has a huge, decades-spanning body of work that proves his directing ability, and he'd certainly have no problem working from Kathleen Kennedy's house style.

How Likely Is It?: Han Solo reshoots are still ongoing and Howard's going to be kept busy with post-production until next spring, but with Episode IX's release date quite likely being pushed back to December 2019, that probably won't be too much of an issue.

Howard is an easy contender, but Kennedy will probably opt for someone who will place more of a stamp on the climactic entry into the new Star Wars trilogy (but not too much). 6/10
