Star Wars Episode VII: 7 Things We Learned In 2013
7. Casting Begins
With the announcement of the sequel trilogy, it was immediately questioned as to whether or not we would see the return of the classic three from the original trilogy: Han, Leia and Luke. There were countless interviews and TV appearances with Harrison Ford this past year, many of which have been hysterical, in which he was questioned over and over again about the return of Han Solo and cast for Episode VII. It is easy to assume that his continuous maneuvering around the question can only indicate that he is a lock to return, but it still is yet to be confirmed whether he (or any of the original cast) will be back. The original crew aside, what fans do know is that casting for Episode VII and most likely beyond was well under way at the wrap of 2013. Much of the internet buzz this past year focused around casting rumors in regards to actors and actresses that were up for roles as well as possible characters stripped right from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It is assumed that much of the Expanded Universe will crumble as details emerge about the sequel trilogy, but it has not been denied that the new story may take inspiration from some of those established characters. An example would be the Marvel Universe and the way that certain story lines are taken and manipulated to fit into a film, whilst existing on a newly-established narrative plain.
