Star Wars: Episode VIII - 8 Things Fans Want (But Won't Get)

8. An Original Score By John Williams

John Williams is 83-years-old. By the time Episode VIII rolls around, the master composer will be 86. While there's no official word as to whether or not Hollywood's greatest musical maestro plans to score Star Wars: Episode VIII, it seems increasingly unlikely that he'll come back to the franchise for a eighth time. Williams works rather sparingly nowadays; The Force Awakens was his first original score in two years, and he hasn't signed on to do anything else in the meantime. It's likely that Disney will offer Williams the gig, of course, because his work on Episode VII was rather good (if not one of his most memorable scores ever). He might say yes, but it seems doubtful. Still, Star Wars isn't Star Wars without John Williams. He's the glue that binds everything together when you sit down to watch an episode unfold; he's what makes a Star Wars movie feel like a Star Wars movie. That said, fans should prepare themselves to be disappointed when it comes time for the studio to hire a composer.
