Star Wars: Ranking Every Final Battle From Worst To Best

8. Attack Of The Clones

Attack Of The Clones
Lucasfilm

Whereas so many Star Wars films opt to have a split finale, alternating between multiple sequences of action, Attack of the Clones sees Lucas focusing on a singular setpiece and systematically raising the stakes of it. The end result is a single sequence that feels like more, because it keeps folding in on itself only to grow even larger.

What starts out as Padme, Anakin, and Obi-Wan facing public execution via monsters, evolves into an all-out war scene between the clone and droid armies. For the first time ever, audiences got to see dozens of Jedi in action, acting as generals of the clone army, as well as a bounty hunter (Jango Fett) taking on a Jedi for himself.

The sequence culminates in a lightsaber showdown between Anakin/Obi-Wan and Count Dooku before even that aspect is capitalized on, leading into the first-seen lightsaber duel for Yoda. It's a bonkers finale, but one that works because of Lucas' willingness to commit to the insanity of it all.
