1. It'll Lead To A New Rogue Squadron Game
It's been a busy couple of years over at Lucasfilm. Since Disney bought the company, Star Wars has been pushed back to market prominence, with brand new books, comics, TV shows and, of course, films all on the way. The area where they're been lacking, however, is video games. Sure, there's plenty of nifty phones apps available, but, aside from Star Wars: Battlefront later this year, there's no triple-A titles on the horizon. Of course, the future of licensed games, which are mostly aimed at more casual players, is the mobile market. That doesn't mean that has to be the hard-and-fast rule though; Batman's making a killing in that arena, after all. Besides, Star Wars was always an anomaly in licensed games. Whereas most screen-to-console exercises were uniformly awful, the galaxy far, far away delivered a run of knockouts. There were duds, for sure, but the likes of Jedi Knight, Knights Of The Old Republic and the original Battlefronts make stuff like Yoda's Stories easy to overlook. With Rogue One (all-but definitely) focusing heavily on X-Wings, this would be the perfect time to make a brand new Rogue Squadron. The N64's incredible action flight simulator is one of the best games from the franchise, not only ground-breaking in graphical and control terms, but also introducing a new way for the franchise to tell its story; instead of dramatising the movies, the games told the X-Wing team's concurrent adventures, feeling more like a more unique experience in the process. People have been hankering for a fourth Rogue Squadron game for years, and, with a whole movie linked to it on the way, this is the best chance there's ever going to be of getting one. What are your predications for Rogue One? Share any we missed down in the comments.
