Han Solo doesn't join in the fight against the Empire until A New Hope, and even then he only helps out in the beginning for money. So what could he possibly have to do in Rogue One? The answer is one no one seems to have, but the talk nonetheless is that he will have a small cameo to introduce the new actor playing a young version of the character, before his own spin-off movie in 2018. Similar to Spider-Man in Civil War, kinda, maybe. It'd be an understandable move in terms of easing the new actor into the role rather than throwing him in at the deep end, and I suppose you could have a shot of him interacting with the Rebel spies or even bounty hunters, which would fit with the timeline and the debt he owes to Jabba the Hutt. You couldn't have him as part of the Rebel Alliance, but in a couple of quick scenes there is a way they could work out. Who do you want to see cameo in Rogue One? NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
