18. Mon Mothma, Bail Organa & Jan Dodonna
Though many fans assumed that Disney would basically leave the Star Wars prequels in the periphery given how negatively most fans view them, they smartly included three supporting characters in Rogue One.
The trio are rebel leader Mon Mothma, Leia's adoptive father Bail Organa and rebel officer Jan Dodonna, with Genevieve O'Reilly reprising her Mothma role from Revenge of the Sith, while Jimmy Smits reprises Organa from Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
As original Dodonna actor Alex McCrindle passed away in 1990 (and wouldn't have been age-appropriate for the part anyway), he was replaced by Game of Thrones actor Ian McElhinney for a few brief moments.
It's really all about Mothma and Organa, though, and the two have fairly small but memorable roles in Rogue One as the rebels scramble to organise an attack plan. Their exchange does a good job of further strengthening the link between the prequels and the original trilogy without being too overt or on-the-nose.
