Star Wars: Rogue One - Jimmy Smits Confirms He's Back As Senator Organa

The Senator is back in the house.

It goes without saying that we're going to see lots of ties between Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith, Star Wars: A New Hope and Rogue One when it comes out. The film is a narrative bridge, and it's unlikely that all of the characters still kicking about at the end of Episode III are just going to disappear entirely - not least because LucasFilm can score some easy fan-service out of them.

The latest to be confirmed in that respect is Jimmy Smits, who will reprise his role as Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan, who was last seen adopting little Leia heroically. He's one of the founding members of The Rebellion, and as such he has an important role to play in its key missions.

In a recent interview with CBS’ The Talk, Smits initially played coy at first, but eventually relented to say: “Can you say the word, ‘cameo?’ Can you say the words, ‘small part?’"

So don't expect a great deal from Organa - though he has already been seen in the Sizzle Reel from Celebration Europe...

He's likely to have just as big a part as Genevieve O'Reilly who returns as Mon Mothma after appearing in Revenge of the Sith. But at least we'll get to see him again before he ultimately bits a Death Star blast in New Hope.
