We did see this in the teaser, but now knowing the context it's worth re-commenting on. This gang of captured Rebel pilots are on Jedha, which suggests the city is also serving as something of a Rebel base that the Imperials are quashing.

Given Jyn's there with Cassian (undercover I might add - look at them walking right past a Stormtrooper commander), they're clearly there to get something important for the ultimate plans mission. What is unclear, but it likely involves Saw Gerrera.
