2. There's Clues To Snoke's Identity In His Design

Of course, being an ancient character with an unknown history in the galaxy, there's been a lot of speculation about the true identity of Snoke - the popular thinking is that he's Plagueis, but there's been all manner of theories, from resurrected pre-existing characters to saga-changing introductions. Obviously Scott couldn't comment on future events, but he was able to reveal his backstory is established and shed some light on how it was worked into The Force Awakens:

"It's all in his character design. It's very much shrouded in mystery still, but all those scars and all that damage has to come from somewhere."

It's not much to go on, but clearly someone at ILM knows what the deal is, which is pretty exciting.
