Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Simple Explanations That Would Have Improved The Film
2. Why Did Rey & Leia Share That Hug?
It's a weird moment, this one: after the death of Han Solo and the destruction of Starkiller Base, our heroes return to the Resistance Base. Poe Dameron is regarded as a super amazing pilot, whilst Rey and Leia - who as far as we know have never met - look at one another sadly, mourning the loss of Han. And then they embrace. There's no explanation for this moment. We don't find out that they're these two are related or anything when the hug happens either; Rey didn't even know what Leia even looks like. And yet they come together as though they're old friends. Something about it just doesn't quite work, even if you accept that they're just hugging because, hey, why not? There needed to be a moment of explanation here. As far as Leia knows, Rey is just a random prisoner that Han and Finn went to rescue. What gives?
