Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 11 Major Plot Clues From The Final Trailer

10. Finn Is a Conscientious Objector

So, now that we've heard him speak (great American accent by the way), we know that Finn's escape from his life as a stormtrooper comes about because he doesn't feel like he has anything to fight for. He's basically an intergalactic conscientious objector, which the First Order are probably so not tolerant of. His line "I was raised to do one thing" seemingly suggests that the First Order breed their new line of troopers, rather than growing clones, but that they might be capable of free will (the inevitable design flaw of real people). Unless of course it means he's been bred to take down the Empire from the inside, and that he's a slow-burning sleeper agent, who discovers the plan to find Rey and goes to warn her... It's hard to shake the idea that Finn has lived a particularly sheltered life: that much is sold really well. Not only does he mention having a singular reason for living, but he also reacts to the Maz Kanata droid like Tarzan in the big city. Plus he's basically horrified when Kylo Ren whips out his lightsaber at the end, and there's definitely a mix of naivety and stupidity along with his fear.
