Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 11 Major Plot Clues From The Final Trailer

8. Poe Dameron Is Going To Be Tortured

As was already established by the previous trailer, Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron ends up in the Empire's custody, presumably after he parts company with Finn in this trailer (in that very "you better not be a double agent" exchange) and lands in whatever base was shown in the second trailer. Since his character bio sets up his difficulty in drawing the line between commitment to the cause and commitment to his squad mates, it would reasonable to assume that he ends up captured because of an act of altruistic heroism that sees him left behind. After he's frog-marched down the corridor within the Empire ship, it has now been revealed that he ends up in front of Kylo Ren who uses the Force to mentally torture him. Given the way the trailer is cut, it looks like Ren actually uses his powers to implant a vision into Dameron's head of the First Order's plan (planetary annihilation)...
And yes, that does look suspiciously like the destruction of the Veridian System in Star Trek Generations. (Maybe that's why William Shatner welcomed this trailer's release with accusations of Star Wars ripping off Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica?) So is that a flashforward to the First Order's intended target? If so, you have to suspect that Ren intends to kill Dameron (surely he's not a silly enough villain to give away his plan and let his captive escape?!) So the big question now is how Dameron gets away, and more importantly who saves him.
