6. Han Solo Is The Obi-Wan Kenobi
It was long presumed that Luke Skywalker was going to assume the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for the seventh film - particularly when everyone caught sight of his beard - but the trailer has apparently finally put that to bed. It is instead Han who passes on the information about the Force and the history of the Jedi and the Dark Side, despite the fact that HE DIDN'T EVER BELIEVE ANY OF IT... Perhaps 30 years of living with the space witch daughter of a dark space wizard finally mellowed his cynicism and he accepted that the Force actually does surround, penetrates and binds us all together. Still, it seems a little odd that he would be the one to have that speech with Rey and Finn. Can we count the ways Han is basically Dead Meat Solo yet? He's the protector of potentially two targets, he's an old gunslinger in the Western tradition, the actor wanted him to die years ago, he's in a steady romance, he used to be the coolest character of all and now he's being set up as the wise old torch-passing mentor. He's on borrowed time.
