Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 12 Reasons It Lives Up To The Hype
11. John Williams' Score Is Superb
If there is one guarantee of quality in a Star Wars film, it's John Williams' score. He is the man who can set the tempo, alter your feelings, excite and inspire with just a few notes. His music for all six of the previous Star Wars films has been a work of genius, and his score for The Force Awakens is no different. It is a slightly different beast to what's come before; with first watch at least, there's no obvious standout defining track. It's more subtle, or maybe that just comes with being caught up in everything else going on when you're first watching it, but it's still great. There's plenty of different stuff here, as well as some wonderful moments that callback to his previous work, that means it swoops and soars and carries you along on this ride.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
