12. Kylo Ren Is "Very Unpolished"

Adam Driver fielded questions about new villain Kylo Ren, offering some tasty hints at what we can expect from him:

"He's a great cook. He's a scorpio."

So that makes him strong-willed and mysterious: brave, loyal and focussed, if you put any weight in astrology anyway. More importantly, Driver offered suggestions that he's a rough character:

"He's very unpolished. What JJ and Larry did, keeping the language of the dark side, but then adding in something that's very un neat and messy."

Intriguingly, he was never considered to be a real villain:

"We tried not to think of him as bad or evil or as a villain, but more three-dimensional. In the beginning, that, to me, seemed more terrifying in someone, having a justifiable reason for doing whatever he's doing."

Writer Lawrence Kasdan offered similar appraisal:

"There's never been a character like Kylo in the saga. He doesn't have all of his sh*t together. Adam acts it so beautifully. You watch thinking he's some evil genius, but you see all the contradictions of ." When you see him, you get the conflict that people feel, that any one of us can have at any moment."
