Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 30 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See

9. Link To Knights Of The Old Republic

According to some eagle-eyed fans, the island that Luke is found on at the end of the movie is reminiscent of Rakata Prime, as it fits the description of the planet in Knights Of The Old Republic. That was the home of the ancient Force-enabled race the Rakata, and it would make sense that Luke would be drawn to an ancient place of power (he's not at the Jedi temple as some have summised, or Kylo Ren would know where he was easily). So while the Expanded Universe might have been obliterated, it might not be entirely gone. There's also a parallel to be drawn between the map to Luke and the map to the Star Forge in KOTOR, and Luke's flight to the distant reaches of the galaxy mimics Revan's own exile. And the Starkiller base being powered by draining stars is the same as the way the Star Forge drew power.
