Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 6 Huge Reveals From The Leaked Script

4. Kylo Ren Regrets Killing His Father

The novelisation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens indicated that Kylo Ren had a flash of remorse after striking down his father Han Solo, but the script elaborates on that by offering up some insight into his feelings. Before that though, we also learn that Han is seeing his son "for the first time as a man", confirmation that Ben Solo turned to the Dark Side at a relatively young age and that he's been with Snoke for a very long time. Acknowledging the fact that Kylo is well aware that Snoke is just using him, the script confirms that "For the first time, Kylo Ren seems truly conflicted" as he strikes down Han. "Kylo Ren is somehow WEAKENED by this wicked act," it continues. "Himself horrified. His SHOCK is broken only when..." and that's the moment Chewbacca shoots his old friend's son and the action once again starts ramping up after this shocking moment. While much of this was certainly hinted at through the incredible performance of Adam Driver, it's going to be very interesting to see if any of these plot threads are addressed in Episode VIII, because you just know there has to be more to Snoke's story if he's for some reason only using Kylo. On a side note, it seems like Han's death was originally going to play out a little slower with him not falling off the gangway immediately. Seeing as that was such a hard moment for fans to witness, it's fair to say that the fact he just fell straight away is probably better than putting the audience through the agony of watching it play out for much longer!
