6. What’s That Weapon On Her Back?
Rey’s outfit consists of fairly ragged clothes, worn wrapped around her body and a scarf around her head, along with gloves, goggles, belts and boots. Perhaps the most notable part of the attire, however, was what she was wearing on her back: a weapon of some sort, appearing to be a staff.
It has been reported that Daisy Ridley had to undergo a fair bit of physical training for the role, including working with a fight choreographer who has previously worked on Game Pf Thrones (hopefully not from the Sand Snakes Vs. Jamie & Bronn fight), and that she has been learning Bojutsu, a Japanese fighting style that predominantly uses a staff.
Will this just be a basic staff, or will there be more to it, namely will it be an electrostaff? Seen in Revenge of the Sith and the Clone Wars, these have the ability to block lightsaber strikes, which could come in very handy during the film.
