Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Deleted Scenes You Need To See

5. Message From Jakku

This is quite a good scene, in that it reveals more of the Resistance, and gives us more of Carrie Fisher on our screens.

After things go awry (to put it lightly) on Jakku, word is taken to General Leia Organa that the village was wiped out, and Poe Dameron's X-wing was destroyed.

It's interesting to see the events followed-up on in the ranks of the Resistance, while a couple of the standout lines include Leia talking about how if the First Order get to Luke first it's all over - the implication being they'll kill him? - and the line about never underestimating a droid, which is both a nod to how great BB-8 is in the film, and the part played by R2-D2 and C-3PO in the past. Speaking of the latter, it's also an added appearance for him, and that "Oh my" at the end is vintage Threepio.

Still, it isn't a necessary scene in order to explain the events of the film, and there's the chance that including it would've lessened the emotional impact of Han and Leia's reunion, which is the first time we see the Princess.
