Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Reasons It'll Live Up To The Hype (And 2 You'll Be Disappointed)
Why It'll Live Up To The Hype:
8. The New Cast Is Excellent
How big and talented is the cast for The Force Awakens? Well, to give you an inkling, this is a film that has cast the legendary Max von Sydow, and pretty much everyone has forgotten about it. In terms of the newcomers, there is a whole host of upcoming and established talent that it's rather exciting to think about stepping into a galaxy far, far away. There's Andy Serkis doing what Andy Serkis does best, namely being the best damn mo-cap actor on the planet, and Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o is joining him. Of the new leads, Daisy Ridley is an unknown quantity, but John Boyega was pretty solid in Attack The Block, while Adam Driver is one of the brightest up-and-coming actors around at the moment (when you're cast in both Star Wars and the new Martin Scorsese film, you must have something a little special). Then, of course, there is Oscar Isaac. Poe Dameron has been slightly overlooked so far, which is a shame because not only is he "the best frickin' pilot in the galaxy", but Isaac is one of the best frickin' actors in the world right now. A great cast doesn't guarantee success of course, but with the talent on display here it's going to be difficult for them to fail.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
