Star Wars: The Force Awakens has broken pretty much any and every box office record you can imagine, delivering the kind of numbers which are unlikely to be broken any time soon (in fact, the only movie in the near future which stands a chance of doing so might just be Episode VIII). However, despite initial estimates both before and after the movie opened, it's become apparent over the past few weeks that it won't top Avatar. It did seem as if that would be the case for a while, but with The Force Awakens now looking set to only reach $900 million in North America rather than an estimated $1+ billion and an international haul which has taken a dent thanks to the movie underperforming in China where the franchise isn't anywhere near as well known as around the rest of the globe, it's currently not clear whether it's even going to end up topping Titanic. Of course, that's been re-released on multiple occasions and Avatar had the advantage of coming out when audiences weren't fed up with 3D (it also spent months longer in cinemas than this will). Despite all of that, the movie is still on track to become only the third release in history to top $2 billion at the worldwide box office, and that's not to be sniffed at. For now though, the Force isn't strong enough to take down Avatar... What else has been revealed about Star Wars: The Force Awakens since it exploded into cinemas?
