Though Pegg's character in The Force Awakens is still under-wraps, it does appear that his face is going to be covered - much like Daniel Craig's stormtrooper cameo - as this shot of him melting having removed what would appear to be a large head-piece confirms.

Even in the ridiculous heat, Pegg's enthusiasm for the project shows, which won't come as a surprise to anyone who's watched even a single episode of Spaced. Presumably, Nick Frost is furious he wasn't invited.

There's not much to go on in the footage to work out who he's playing, but the bulk of the costume does fit with the size of some of Maz Kanata's band of characters. And the background looks beat-up enough to suggest he's shooting in part of her base.
