5. Max Von Sydow's Secret

When Max Von Sydow was revealed to be part of the cast, it was assumed that he was going to be an important character, even despite the announcement that he would be no more than a simple villager. Fast forward to a couple of minutes into the film and he's lying dead at Kylo Ren's feet having divulged his secrets (or some of them) to Poe Dameron. It might have been established that he is an "old ally" of the Resistance, but it feels like there's a lot more yet to be revealed about him. Who was he to Luke for example? Why was he trusted with the information of his whereabouts when Leia wasn't? And how was he already aware of Kylo Ren's history? Hopefully the appearance of Luke means we'll get some answers to those particular questions in Episode VIII (unless a younger version of him is going to appear in Rogue One, of course).
