Here's the best on-screen look of The Force Awakens big-bad yet (played by Adam Driver). And, seeing his mask without the hood, it's clear he's heavily inspired by Darth Vader. Which isn't surprising, given that he's saying "I will finish what you started," to Vader's charred helmet. So he is indeed an Anakin obsessive and very much driven by some form of legacy. What exactly his plans are? Anybody's guess.
