Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer Breakdown: 21 Things You Need To See
17. Leia
We saw a few behind-the-scenes shots of Carrie Fisher in The Last Jedi during the Celebration panel, but here we get our first proper shot of the General.
It's exactly as you'd expect, very much a typical Resistance base shot with her analysing whatever the latest intel on the First Order is. It's only a brief moment, but coupled with her reverentially they spoke of her in the preceding panel (an yesterday's tribute) it stands as a poignant one. It must've been a tricky balancing act for those putting the trailer together, but I think they judged it correctly.
It's also just after this that we get the first of the subtle background voiceovers, hearing Leia from A New Hope saying: "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi."
All of this happens when Rey responds to Luke's "what do you see?" question with "Light". So, of course, it's making the connection to the Light Side of the Force, and I guess (and you can bet it'll be used in a theory) hinting at Rey being a Kenobi.
