Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Will Snoke Turn Rey To The Dark Side?

Luke Skywalker And Balancing The Force

Finally, there's the fourth part of this puzzle to connect: Luke Skywalker himself. He's already lost Ben, and is scared of what Rey's power could do - presumably if it isn't harnessed correctly. And while he doesn't want to train her, we've seen that he does actually do it to some extent.

The first trailer dropped the bombshell of Luke believing it's time for the Jedi to end, and this trailer doubles down on the notion of this Luke being almost unrecognisable from the hero of the Original Trilogy. He wants to bring balance to the Force, and is The Last Jedi.

Rather than a fall to the Dark Side, or a return to the Light, are we instead going to see Rey and(/or) Kylo brought instead to the middle, shedding the Jedi/Sith dichotomy of the past and creating a whole new brand of Force-user, more powerful than any that've come before due to their dual nature?

That's arguably an even more interesting idea than them switching roles, and would lay the groundwork for an epic end to the Skywalker story, regardless of whether Luke is the villain or not - and he could certainly be grouped in the same thematic space as Snoke, at the very least, with the two proteges leaving their mentors behind.

The new trailer certainly leaves some massive questions where these central figures and their fates are concerned - thankfully, the wait isn't too much longer.
