We're just a few short months away from the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a film shrouded in more mystery, intrigue and fan anxiety than any other in recent memory.

And while fans are twiddling their thumbs waiting to see what J.J. Abrams does with a returning Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), there's another, altogether more nagging plot thread that's (apparently) going to finally be addressed in the movie.

That is, of course, the Knights of Ren, the awesome-looking followers of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), whose disappointingly piecemeal role in the Sequel Trilogy so far has left many baffled if not infuriated.

But we know for sure that the Knights have a role in The Rise of Skywalker, and if the rumours are true, it's said to be a major one.

It remains to be seen what the Knights have been doing for the last two movies and what their role in the new film will be, but between some educated guesswork and rumours, we're able to piece together a convincing, compelling picture of what fans should expect.

But first off, let's recap the little we actually know about the shadowy Knights...
