Star Wars: A Visual History

6. Star Wars: Droids And Star Wars: Ewoks (1985/6)

The TV spin-offs didn't stop there. In the '85/'86 season two new Star Wars cartoons aired; Droids and Ewoks.

Droids is certainly the most interesting - set in the nineteen years between trilogies, it's the first pre-A New Hope content produced, serving as an eye into the galaxy pre-Luke. Ewoks was more typical eighties cartoon fare, seeing the Care Bear-like creatures in lots of "fun" adventures in the forest.

Oddly enough, Ewoks outran Droids, getting a second series. The only time in Star Wars history where the teddy bears were more popular than the iconic robots.
