Den of Geek got the chance to talk with Stellan Skarsgård whilst he was out doing the rounds for his new movie, John Le Carré adap Our Kind of Traitor. You can bet dollars to donuts that they took the opportunity to ask him about his next MCU appearance. Apparently the actor has "one option" left on his contract with Marvel as renowned astrophysicist/exposition machine Dr Erik Selvig. As for what his fifth and final film with Marvel might be, Skarsgård said "Thor 3 is not on my slate, but maybe the next Avengers." So, unless they require Selvig to turn up somewhere else in Phase Three to explain stuff - Black Panther being the only viable option - we can probably expect the good doctor to show up for Avengers: Infinity War Part I or II. With Thor's over-arching Phase Three storyline seeming to be the one most stringently tied to Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, after his vision quest in Age of Ultron, it's not too much of a stretch to imagine Selvig could be dragged back into the story.
Thor: Ragnarok is released in the UK on 27 October 2017 and 3 November 2017 in the US. Avengers: Infinity War Part I is out on 4 May 2018.
