Stephen King: Ranking His Films From Worst To Best

18. The Night Flier

Some Stephen King films are deservedly lesser-known, low-budget adaptations that fail to capture what made their source material so good. The Night Flier, meanwhile, is something of a hidden gem in the history of King adaptations, which does struggle with its budget but remains pretty darn entertaining regardless. Most of the credit for that can go to RoboCop and Twin Peaks star Miguel Ferrer as reporter named Richard Dees, the cynical tabloid reporter who tracks down and debunks ridiculous supernatural urban legends and news stories, intrigued by a series of murder. Murders which involve a killer who apparently drops down in an airplane, murders his victims by stabbing them in the neck twice and draining their blood. And then flying off again. The literal vampire of the killings vs Ferrer's figurative vampire is a fun allegory, even if the former's make-up is a tad iffy.
