Stephen King's “It”: 10 Things The Remake Must Get Right

4. Leave Out The Sewer Scene

If you've only seen the television adaptation of It, you'd be forgiven for not being aware of, well...THAT scene. What scene am I talking about? Are you sure you want to know?

In the book, there's a bizarre (to put it lightly) sequence in which the kids get lost in the sewers, and the only female there, Beverly, decides that the main way she can help the gang out is by losing her virginity to them - all of them.

Even amongst fans of the book, the scene is incredibly controversial. Though King never meant it to be lewd, there's no way it could be depicted on-screen without it being misconstrued or completely changed. Many fans don't even like the scene, so to include it or some iteration would merely be for shock value. In the end, it's simply not needed to tell the story.
