Suicide Squad: 10 Actors Who Could Replace Tom Hardy

1. Idris Elba

Who says Rick Flag has to be white, though? Is there necessarily a prerequisite that all-American precludes people of colour? Well, probably in some people's eyes, but best to ignore them. They are awful. And Idris Elba is one of the best actors working today, whether he's playing it straight in The Wire, or a little more broad in the likes of Luther. He's a blockbuster name, too, thanks to his stealing the show in Pacific Rim. Right now he's locked into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he doesn't sound all that happy with how much time he spends fannying about on green screens for his rather small role as Heimdall in the Thor films. More than anyone on this list, Elba's long been deserving of a starring role in a major Hollywood production. And he's perfect for Suicide Squad, perfect for Rick Flag. He can do the leader thing, as shown in Pacific Rim. He can do the gruff military man, too, based on that and 28 Weeks Later. He's good in whatever context you place him. That's if he's not busy playing a two-fisted, drunk superhero version of Edgar Allen Poe, anyway...
