Suicide Squad: 10 Reasons It Will Save The DC Cinematic Universe

7. David Ayer's Directing (So It'll Actually Be Good)

You know who'd be a great choice to direct a gritty reboot of Batman? The guy who showed real story-telling skill and realistic eye with Memento and Insomnia. You know who should direct a risky superhero team-up using semi-unknown characters that needs geek approval? The creator of Buffy, someone whose entire career has been built on pleasing geek fan-bases. You know who should direct Man Of Steel? The guy who has never delivered a film that can be described as anything more than divisive. Yeah, DC have a bit of an issue with getting the right creative talent for their Cinematic Universe. They got Nolan for The Dark Knight Trilogy, but since it feels like they've just been picking names out at random. Compare this to Marvel, who have consistently gone for out-there choices that really fit the project (the director of Slither doing Guardians Of The Galaxy is so crazy it's hard to believe it worked). Thankfully, Suicide Squad shows a bit more brains; getting David Ayer was a masterstroke. The director has proven himself with End Of Watch and Fury (try and ignore Sabotage), showing an ability to balance well-rounded character development and nerve-shreddingly believable action, which is exactly what an anti-hero movie needs.
