13. Joel Kinnaman As Rick Flag (Confirmed)
The second character confirmed to return from 2016 is Joel Kinnaman's commander of the titular squad, Rick Flag. Working for Amanda Waller, the character was in charge of the group, and possessed the power over their life and death with his killer app.
Flag was something of a middle of the road character in the movie, in that he wasn't nearly as disappointing as some of the others, but did nothing to really stand out like Amanda Waller or Harley Quinn.
However, James Gunn has been very selective with those he has chosen to bring back for his take on the team, so he must have something planned for the military man. If he simply acts as the man in charge again, would there really be any point in bringing him back? There must be some kind of development Gunn has in mind, and Kinnaman is a talented enough actor to be able to bring a lot more to the screen than he did last time.
