5. Idris Elba As Vigilante (Rumoured)
News of Idris Elba's casting has been all over the place ever since he was confirmed to be a part of The Suicide Squad. With the likes of Captain Boomerang, Amanda Waller, and Rick Flag returning, the Luther actor was initially 'confirmed' to be portraying a returning Deadshot.
Apparently set to replace Will Smith in the same way Don Cheadle and Mark Ruffalo replaced Terrence Howard and Edward Norton respectively, the news was ultimately proven false. It has since been confirmed that the actor will be portraying a completely new character in the franchise, though which exactly is yet to be revealed.
The biggest rumour for some time was that Elba would be portraying Bronze Tiger, however set photos showing his costume have suggested that it will actually be Vigilante. The character, regardless of which iteration is ultimately chosen, will be a highly trained mercenary in the same vein as The Punisher, taking down people he believes deserve it.
Elba could certainly bring this character to the screen in 2021 as something of a leader for the team alongside Rick Flag. Quite possibly in a similar role to Floyd Lawton's in the first movie, but as a completely separate character.
