27. The Pink Unicorn Fetish
Don't get me wrong, I loved Jai Courtney's Boomerang, but I couldn't help but be somewhat shocked by the whole Pink Unicorn fetish thing. It's the one quirk that is expressed on his rap-sheet, and it definitely feels like an unnecessary injection of silliness for the sake of it.
Even before the film came out, it was clear that this was DC's version of Deadpool: that it was about essentially bad guys doing what is necessary while the good guys look on helplessly. It didn't need to be consciously stated. So having a character quirk like this which is completely ripped off from Deadpool - who has a thing for unicorns too.
And then to have it revealed that Boomerang probably actually f*cks Pinky his stuffed unicorn (hence "fetish") is just baffling.
