Suicide Squad Leaked Trailer: 6 Things You Need To Know

4. What's Superman Got To Do With It?

There has been a lot of speculation about when Suicide Squad takes place (before or after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), but it's clear from Waller's mention of Superman during the trailer's opening sequence that it's set in a post Man of Steel world.

When the men ask her with keen fascination about some of those being kept in Belle Reve having "abilities", Waller enthusiastically responds: "Oh yeah, I've seen things...maybe Superman was some sort of beacon for them to creep back from the shadows."

This raises a lot of interesting questions. For starters, when were these villains active, and who dealt with them? Aquaman? Green Lantern? Wonder Woman? It can't be just Batman who put them behind bars, and Waller definitely seems to imply that the emergence of Superman is what led to them suddenly making themselves known again.

If that's the case, perhaps Superman is going to be the Iron Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, it was Tony Stark suiting up which seemed to lead to the arrival of everyone from Captain America to Hawkeye and Thor in that world. Either way, it seems the Man of Steel is somehow indirectly responsible for this team being formed.
