Ok no, Stranger Things isn't actually a movie - although its titling convention is in keeping with the fact the Duffer Bros approach it as one - but it's such a huge series that it's worth mentioning here.

The marketing for the new season hasn't really kicked into gear yet, with the new episodes dropping on Netflix on July 4. There's still plenty of time of course, but what makes a Super Bowl spot likely is that it worked so well a couple of years ago for Season 2.

Since Netflix used the game then to launch its marketing, and the release of this season is closer (Season 2 debuted in October 2017), then it's a great time for them to 'surprise' everyone with a proper look at Stranger Things 3.
