Though the Superman vs. Batman movie (or is it Batman vs. Superman?) was only announced a little over a week ago to a screaming throng of fans at Comic-Con, VanCityBuzz is already reporting plans to move the production from Vancouver (where Man of Steel was filmed) to Toronto, even though the project isn't likely to begin shooting until early 2014, ready for a summer 2015 release. The reason behind the move? Tax credits; the implication is that the movie would simply stand to gain more from shooting in Toronto this time. Vancouver has lost many major movie contracts over the last 9 months, with X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Man of Steel all previously shooting there though filming their latest subsequent elsewhere, so this will be a massive economic disappointment for the city. The more tantalising question that this news raises, however, is - will Toronto set the stage for Metropolis or Gotham City? The fact that Toronto is far more urban landscape than Vancouver doesn't really help shed any light on a possible answer, though given that this will very much be Supes' ship with Batman jumping aboard - and given that Christopher Nolan gave us such a vivid rendering of Gotham in his trilogy - it would probably make sense for Toronto to be the new Metropolis. As of present, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne are all touted to return from the Superman sides, whereas the new actor donning the cape and cowl has yet to be announced, though screen tests are reportedly going to kick-off soon. Do you think Toronto will be the new Gotham or Metropolis? Let us know in the comments below.
