Superman will fly again with Bryan Singer

Brandon_Routh_i_Supe_99287c.jpgSuperman Returns wasn't a bad film but it was a long way from being a good one. You can read my whole review here, but in short it seemed to be a film made just to say "look at how good our special effects are", it was a movie with no heart. I came out of seeing it bitterly disapointed, boring the hell out of my girlfriend about how many things Singer messed up in the film. The movie this week barely passed the target of $200 million in the U.S meaning that Warner Brothers have given the go-ahead for a sequel with Bryan Singer set to direct once again, maybe even starting production as early as next September. However things aren't all rosy for the sequel, a few things have been ironed out to change after the sequel did lackluster numbers (any movie involving Superman shouldn't struggle to make $200 million). The first change is the budget will be cut from $260 million for the first movie to around $140-$170 which was always going to happen because the budget for the first movie was way bloated. Second is the studio's are demanding more action for the sequel and are promising one of Superman's biggest foes to be the main villain of the piece. Could we finally see Jude Law as General Zod perhaps? I wouldn't have said the first movie was lacking action, the set pieces were genuienly good, my advice for the sequel would be to have more heart and try to clearly define some of the characters a little better.... I totally didn't get James Marsden's character for example. Happy to see Supes return again folks? Were you as disapointed as me with Superman's Return? source - iesb
